Alps Hudson Valley

There’s no question about it: Alps Sweet Shop is a Hudson Valley Classic, and you know it the minute you walk in the door. While not technically a restaurant, Alps DID start as a soda fountain in 1922, and today this candy factory and story on Beacon’s Main Street is STILL run by the same family who launched the brand literally a century ago.

When you go into Alps, all you’re gonna find is sweets. But you can also watch the factory portion of the business, where they create and assemble their delicious chocolates and candy. This is a good place to grab a gift for someone sweet in your life, or to satisfy your sweet tooth if you want something classic and reliably delicious.

Technically, this is a store not a restaurant. But the stuff inside is worth eating (and the process is worth watching).

My partner scored some BIG points the day I came home and found a legendary Alps treasure on our kitchen table: chocolate covered POTATO chips. You just can’t beat that salty and sweet combo.

To Beaconcise: A classic old-fashioned local sweetshop with some extra special surprise treats.
